What a wonderful way to think about nature and our children. I also have a summer (early August baby, Torin) and, at the time it was the hottest summer on record in Maine. I soothed myself with watermelon to keep my own temperature-10 degrees more than everyone else's, or so it seemed-at a manageable level. To this day, Torin loves the water, being outdoors in the summer, and, watermelon! Calum was my late November baby, born a few days after a cold and gray Thanksgiving and we enjoyed many days of snuggling and nursing by a warm fire. He is my indoor kid. (and still loves to snuggle when we get together). Thanks for stirring these memories, Nancy.
